“Brought up 18 months in 70% French and 30% American oak, 20% being new, the 2012 Reserva has textbook Tempranillo notes of smoked red and black fruits, Asian spices, lead pencil, and incense.
It's rich, medium to full-bodied, has polished tannins, beautiful purity, and a good finish. It's a classic wine that's ideal for cellaring and drinking over the coming two decades.” Jeb Dunnuck
Founded in 1957, this Rioja producer has 267 acres in Rioja, all organically farmed. The vine ages are impressive, with the oldest vines planted in 1940 and the most recent ones in 1980. This has always been one of the best-value Rioja producers, but of course, they make wines that are more expensive than $25 as well. - Robert Parker
