Pale to medium gold in color, the 1998 Suduiraut gives delicate lemon pastilles and lime cordial notions with peach blossoms, honeycomb and ceps in the background. Both unctuous and refreshing in the mouth, some compelling white pepper and powdered ginger notions come through on the long finish.
The estate takes the name of Suduiraut in 1580, followingthe marriage of Nicole d'Allard with Lonard de Suduiraut. The castle, looted and burned during the Fronde, was rebuilt in the seventeenth century, and renamed Cru du Roy in the late eighteenth century, following its recoveryby a nephew of the Suduiraut family, Jean Joseph Duroy, Baron deNoaillan. The house is then adorned with a cartouche where the arms ofSuduiraut and Duroy, at the origin of the current coat of arms of ChateauSuduiraut, meet. Beautiful French gardens, designed by Le Ntre, famousgardener of King Louis XIV, come to decorate the property. On April 18, 1855, the estate is classified Premier Cru whenranking the wines of the Gironde. It was taken over in 1992 by AXA Millsimes, whose missionis to preserve and perpetuate the great know-how of the history and culture ofwine with one objective: to allow great wines, from vineyards with gloriouspast, to express their full potential.
